The purpose of the basic General Education curriculum is to cultivate students’ basic ability to face the diverse and ever-changing modern society in the future, and to lay the foundation for lifelong learning for the students in the era of rapid globalization.
To achieve the above objectives, there are six academic fields in basic General Education including:
Literature Education: to enable students to cultivate their ability of communication and expression, and to facilitate professional development as well as in and daily life applications.
Social science: to enable students to cultivate their sense of history and direction, the foundation of law, the concept of constitutional democracy, the basic ability to participate in contemporary society, and to further adapt to the changes and development of contemporary society in the coming century.
Natural Science: to enable students to cultivate their scientific spirit and reasoning ability to make judgments, as well as the ability to acquire information and applied technology in the modern information society.
Aesthetics: to enable students to cultivate their diverse values and create a happy life.
Physical Education: in order to train the students’ body, foster proper entertainment, develop a good national morality, develop a group spirit of cooperation, and further to achieve the goal of strengthening the country.
Innovation: to enable students to learn the skills and methods of creative thinking, cultivate lively imagination and innovation, create ideas based on the beauty of life, and integrate creativity into their professional fields.
